Our Team

Black Cadoodle is led by Craig Starcher and Sarah Ramirez, who have spent their careers helping the military, local government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses turn ambitious ideas into programs, systems, and services that make a meaningful difference. They founded Black Cadoodle on a shared belief that organizations serving communities deserve access to the same level of expertise and support as larger, better-funded institutions.

Our work is driven by respect, growth, and service. We respect the people doing the work, help organizations build the capacity to grow, and approach consulting as an act of service. We believe that when we have the experience to help an organization solve a problem, strengthen its team, or extend its impact, we should put that experience to work. Our goal is to help organizations do more with what they have, build what they need, and create a greater impact for the people who depend on them.

Ethel is the original Black Cadoodle and the inspiration behind our name. A Cadoodle combines the intelligence and trainability of a poodle with the energy, loyalty, and strong instincts of a cattle dog. They are curious, people-oriented dogs that learn quickly, form close bonds, and thrive when they have a purpose.

With her shaggy black coat, expressive eyes, and unmistakably joyful personality, Ethel embodies those qualities. She loves everyone she meets and makes certain they know it. She is fast and strong enough to clear most obstacles, yet she chooses to stay in the yard, because she understands what is expected of her. Ethel reminds us that intelligence is most valuable when paired with discipline, loyalty, and care for others.

We named Black Cadoodle after her, because those are the same qualities we want to bring to our work: the energy to take on difficult challenges, the intelligence to find a better way, and the loyalty to remain committed to the people and organizations we serve.
